Special Service for Groups Research & Evaluation Team is proud to be the Asian & Pacific Islander Technical Assistance Provider (API TAP) for Phase II of the CRDP initiative. From 2016-2022, we will provide technical assistance and capacity building to the API Pilot Projects across California. Our work will support the Pilot Projects to test & demonstrate the effectiveness of their community-defined evidence practices. We are happy to collaborate with Dr. Jacqueline Tran and Dr. Camillia Lui on this innovative and much needed project.
Background:
The California Reducing Disparities Project (CRDP) is an initiative of the California State Department of Public Health Office of Healthy Equity, funded by the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA). The overall aim of CRDP is to identify solutions that will improve mental health outcomes in communities that have been historically unserved, underserved or inappropriately served. CRDP focuses on five populations:
- African Americans and Blacks
- Asians and Pacific Islanders (API)
- Latinos and Hispanics
- Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender & Queer (LGBTQ)
- Native Americans
Aligned with MHSA values, Phase II of CRDP aims to provide evidence for community interventions that are effective in appropriately addressing mental health needs in these diverse populations. CRDP is about doing business differently; it’s about finding solutions with communities rather than for them.
